Providing EMDR Therapy for Adult Individuals
Hello and welcome! I am an EMDR Certified Therapist with a heart for helping others. After a career in communications, time at home with my kids, and nearly a decade of military service, I went back to school to pursue my passion for empowering people to love themselves and the people in their lives well.
Therapy is as much a ministry as a profession for me. I naturally care for others and am passionate about helping people find peace in their lives. Having seen the power of therapy in my own life, I know what it's like on the other side. This gives me a deep respect for meeting clients where they are and providing a safe, compassionate space for them to progress at their own pace.
I am a strong believer in the power of self-awareness, compassion and care as a pathway to healing. As a Christian, I have a deep spirituality and faith in God. I encourage my clients to explore their own sense of spirituality/meaning as part of the healing process with respect for each person's unique belief system.
Married for over 20 years with two children, I have a heart for relationships -- the relationship we have with ourselves and the important people in our lives. Trained as a marriage and family therapist, I have a specialty in relationship dynamics and make exploring and enriching relationships part of my approach. Having experienced the healing power of EMDR myself, I provide this life-changing therapy to efficiently and effectively process traumatic life experiences, big and small. Learn more about EMDR.
I earned my master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Pfeiffer University, my MBA from Wingate University, and a BA in journalism from Indiana University. I have worked with individuals, couples and families addressing such issues as grief and loss, anxiety, depression, stage of life transitions, PTSD, relationship problems, premarital counseling, parenting, substance abuse and more. As an EMDR Certified Therapist, I help clients go beyond managing symptoms to identifying and healing the root of the problem for lasting peace with self and others. I accept self-pay clients and I am in network with BlueCross BlueShield PPO plans, Aetna and the North Carolina State Health Plan.
Reaching out is the first step toward a better life. I am honored for your visit and welcome the opportunity to be a part of your healing journey.
